6/1/2023 0 Comments Hunter x hunter girls sexMany of the Chimera Ants tend to be heavily sexualized with female traits (although some of the males were too. I don't like this scene either neither did every other character present and also Hisoka was more "sexualized" then that prisoner so I don't know if that's a example of sexisim it's just Leorio being a pervert which is not potrayed as good thing at all and he get's punished for it I guess but do you also have a problem with Bisky drooling over naked Hisoka and reading magazines full of half- naked man?ĭid we really need that creepy scene where Leorio groped that female prisoner in the Hunter Exam? One of the initial examiners in the beginning, the female Gourmet Hunter, I believe, is dressed so scantily that the camera literally gazes at her boobs and it shows Netero just staring at her boobs instead of listening to her speak (I'll find the episode and put a timestamp/video) If Togashi wanted to write a story about a female main he would have but he didn't and no one can nor should force him to he has the right to do so. Main four are all men, and I don't think it would have killed Togashi to make one of them female for the sake of balance many scenes where only men are there or considered powerful I mean Mito lives on Whale Island there isn't really much to do there and I'm confused do you also have a problem with the fact that most butlers and mafia members are also stereotypically male? Many of the women we do see are service/domestic workers, like Mito, or they may be waitresses, receptionists, tour guides, etc. Palm wasn't raped she got revived by Pitou and mutated by Pouf into a Chimera hybrid. What do you mean about Bisky? Aren't her insecuirties something that humanizes her and makes her more intersting?(in the manga it even seems she might have a character arc about accepting herself) There are some notable bigger characters like Canary, Melody, Palm, Bisky while I don't have issues with Canary or Melody's characterizations, I think Bisky's body dysmorphia sucks and I hate that Palm got raped in the Chimera Ant arc Very few female pro hunters, particularly in the Zodiacs (only 3/12), and the women that are there are either extremely sexualized (rabbit, chicken) or weak and docile (dog)Īll the Zodiacs have wacky designs and are supposed to look sily I don't that Peon is particullary sexualized(unless being a "bunny girl" is automatically sexual maybe it is I never thought that when I saw her) I can't defend Cluck really but honestly she is such a minor character that that I had to look up how she looks like the thing only I remembered about her was "a chicken zodiac that talks alot".Ĭheadle definetly isn't meek she's just calm and mature she's also clearly strong no nonsense type of leader what made you think she was weak and docile? This makes sense and is pretty realistic the Hunter Exam is an extremely brutal and physically taxing test that less than 1% of people can even realistically take and pass with many of them being criminals, assasins or bounty hunters the professions that females are least likely to be interested in.If something like the Hunter Exam existed in real life I'm willing to bet 90% of participants would be male as well. The gender make-up of applicants at Hunter Exams (think all the bg characters that have no lines or maybe a few) are overwhelmingly male There are very few women characters/pro hunters. I think you are a too sensitive and looking too hard to find sexism in the secenes where there likely was no such intentions but I will still respond Another reason why female characters tend to get ripped apart by critics like myself is because, when there's so few women, the women you have on screen really, really matter. That's nice, but why not have Bisky be happy with her masculine body type? Why does Bisky need to validate herself with the potential attraction of another person?īisky's particular characterization wouldn't be such a problem if we had more female characters. I'm glad to see Togashi potentially going a more progressive direction in his worldbuilding and storytelling, but the rest of the manga can still be problematic.įor example, if I recall correctly, there was a man that found Bisky's true form insanely attractive in the succession arc, but it was a very off-to-the-side comment. I won't deny that the succession arc is improved, but we have to weigh the number of chapters that make up the arc against the entire manga. In the case of HxH, it is implied that women are typically not strong/skilled enough to become hunters, hence the massive gender gap in hunter exam applicants and pro hunters. Not having equal representation of the genders is inherently sexist. Also, I would argue Hisoka is never sexualized in a way that makes him vulnerable he's simply an extremely sensual person. Hisoka is certainly sexualized, yes, but I'd argue that female characters are sexualized more often.
